Pa Tire Width Laws

(i) Apply a load through the block to the outer sidewall of the tyre at the distance specified in Figure 1 of this section for the applicable wheel size at a speed of two inches per minute, with the loading arm substantially parallel to the tyre/rim combination at the time of intervention. (iii) Resistance of tubeless tyres to bead loosening. When tested in accordance with section 159.5 (b), the force required to release the bead of the tire at the point of contact is less than: (1) A designation of the size of the tyre and a statement that the tyre is either an addition to a tyre category listed in the tables or that it belongs to a new category for which no table has been developed. (i) mount the tyre and wheel on a test axle and press a flat steel test wheel with a diameter of 67.23 inches and a width at least equal to the tread width of the tested tyre or an equivalent approved test wheel, the applicable test load being specified in Table I of Appendix A for the designation of dimensions; Type and maximum permissible air pressure of the tyre. (1) Preparation of the wheel-tire assembly. If the tyre has been subjected to the laboratory endurance test provided for in Article 159(5)(d) using a test rim which does not undergo permanent deformation and does not allow air to be lost through the rim pressure chamber part, this Chapter shall apply to new tyres intended for passenger cars manufactured after 1948. However, it shall not apply to tyres which have been modified in such a way that they cannot be used or repaired as automotive equipment. Pennsylvania requires wings on all vehicles and wings and bibs on medium and heavy trucks. There is a maximum wing widening width of 3 inches and the wings must cover the entire width of the tire tread. (4) A statement as to whether the tyre size designation and load inflation plan have been agreed with the Tire and Rim Association, the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation, the Society of Manufacturers and Traders Limited, the Japan Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association, the German Industry Standard and the Scandinavian Tire and Rim Organisation. (A) One tire for physical dimensions, bead compaction resistance and strength one after the other. In the United States, 20 states require some sort of regular vehicle safety inspection. Make sure your tires don`t prevent your car from passing the state inspection. Buy tires exactly at the tread level you need. (ix) The tread of a tyre extends beyond the outer edge of the wheel arch, including the wing extensions.

A vehicle`s tires must not legally exceed a vehicle`s body line. A vehicle whose tires exceed the body line cannot be legally inspected in Pennsylvania. Wing extensions are permitted provided they are not more than three (3) inches from the flat portion of the vehicle`s wing. (i) Wash the tire, dry it on the beads and mount it on a clean, painted test rim without lubrication or adhesive. (1) General. Engine modifications and changes are not clearly explained under Pennsylvania law. 1. Unless otherwise provided for in paragraphs 2 and 3, each tyre shall be permanently shaped into letters and figures at least 0,078 inches high in or on both sidewalls, bearing the information referred to in points (i) to (vii). On at least one sidewall, the information shall be displayed within a range between the maximum width of the cut and the bead of the tyre. The studs or grouse of a crawler tractor or crawler tractor must have a flat surface with rounded edges; be perpendicular to the front and rear axles of the vehicle in such a way that five or more cleats on each surface come into contact with the highway; and shall not be less than 3/4 of the width of the tread or running surface. (ii) Physical dimensions. Each tyre shall meet each of the following criteria when measured in accordance with § 159.5 (a): (6) The outer diameter of the tyre shall be determined by measuring the maximum circumference of the tyre and dividing this dimension by ft (3.14). (4) The brake caliper is the width of the tread and the total width at six points distributed approximately evenly around the circumference of the tyre.
