While not as successful as the series that preceded it, The Good Fight was the original Paramount+ spin-off of The Good Wife. In this series, Christine Baranski brings her character Diane Lockhart from The Good Wife to the new series as the lead actress when she loses her job and has to start over. Although it was quite short compared to other legal dramas, as many of them tend to have hundreds of episodes, Damages is one of the most dedicated lawyer shows of all time. Plus, Your Honor is also a limited series, meaning there won`t be another season, but what the audience got was special and completely different from anything in the genre, and Michael Desiato (Cranston) isn`t much better than Walter White from Breaking Bad. Goliath is a Prime Video original television series starring Billu Bob Thornton. The series ran for four seasons before being cancelled in 2021, telling the story of a dilapidated lawyer in search of redemption. The show was important in that it showed how corruption was endemic in the legal system, which favored the rich. SVU has been running for a long time, as there are nearly 500 episodes in the series, and it`s amazing that the series has managed to stay consistent after all that time. And since the franchise gets another spin-off, there`s a lot it could borrow from Special Victims Unit. With so many professional series where the main character acts as a mentor to a group of people, whether it`s medical shows like House or crime shows like Lie To Me, How To Get Away With Murder is the legal drama`s answer to these shows. The Staircase is a French-American miniseries documenting the trial of American writer Michael Peterson, convicted of the murder of his wife, Kathleen Peterson. In 2001, Michael reported that his wife had had an accident, but after further investigation, he became the prime suspect and was arrested for murder.
He was then granted a new trial for misleading testimony. The Good Wife is grounded in reality almost more than any other legal series, if not for American Crime Story, which is based on real-life court cases. Since the series is about the wife of a prosecutor who returns to court when her husband is caught in the middle of a sex scandal, The Good Wife is heavily influenced by real events such as the scandal surrounding Bill Clinton. Although it had a very short lifespan, “Justice” was still a good legal show. He focuses on a group of lawyers working at Trott, Nicholson, Tuller and Graves, a Los Angeles law firm. Lawyers differ in their background, which shapes their attitude toward the cases they choose. More often than not, they interfere in cases that attract media attention and prove controversial. In each episode, we see how lawyers struggle with the information they have about their clients and try to do the right thing to ensure that justice is done by any means. Legal drama at the highest level: The three-part arc of “D-Girl,” “Turnaround” and “Showtime” (season 7, episodes 15, 16, 17) brings New York detectives to Los Angeles after the murder of a Hollywood director`s wife and culminates in a high-profile trial. Limited to two seasons, the documentary series features expert lectures and interviews on false confessions, criminal law, criminal psychology and court proceedings. This immensely appreciated and positively commented show could give you the opportunity to learn more about many court cases in the United States that have never been revealed by the media, or at least the truth behind these cases.
The Confession Tapes was first released on Netflix in 2017 and ended in 2019. The plot of the Tokyo trial focuses on 11 allied judges appointed to try more than 28 Japanese leaders and political figures, including prime ministers, foreign ministers and military personnel, for waging a brutal war against China and committing numerous atrocities during World War II. The series examines the interactions between the judges and their approach to suspects, culminating in a verdict over a two-and-a-half-year period that changes the fate of Japan in particular and Asia as a whole. Tokyo Trial was critically acclaimed and nominated for the 2017 Emmy Awards. Talent mine Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating in “How to Get Away with Murder.” Keating is a criminal defense attorney and law professor in Philadelphia. This series shows her story as well as that of her five students, whom she personally selects for an internship at her company when they are involved in a murder. The story goes back and forth in time to focus on investigating the murder and tracing the path of how it all began. Viola Davis won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Keating, setting the record for being the first black woman to do so. The Innocence Files follows untold and personal stories of people who were wrongfully convicted and how the verdict affected not only their lives but also their families. The documentary true crime is based on the work of the Innocence Project. The project is an initiative to exonerate and support people who have been falsely accused of crimes they did not commit. The series examines eight such Innocence Project cases that they discovered and canceled.
The documentary series features interviews with Los Angeles Times reporters, attorneys Jon Hatami and Scott Andrew Yang, as well as Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey and others involved in the case. Although the series has very disturbing content, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez has been hailed by critics for bringing such a horrific incident to light. However, that doesn`t stop Pope from doing his job well and intelligently. The series is one of the few to break down barriers by having an African-American woman as the main character. After leaving the White House, Olivia Pope is one of the best fixators for politicians in the capital. There`s more to knowing why she left such a prestigious job and why she`s so good at what she does, making it one of the few great legal dramas directed more by a character than by legal affairs. The Good Wife remains one of the most popular legal dramas to date. After Alicia Flowick (Julianna Margulies) and her journey back to her professional life after her husband was embroiled in a sex scandal and sent to prison, the character balances motherhood, a woman in a male-dominated environment, and one case a week while always remaining calm. A show that definitely passes the Bechdel test (two female characters must have names and talk about entire conversations without mentioning a man), this is a good watch for those who want an adult approach to many topics, including themselves at an older age and love. The best thing about British series is that they don`t care about ending the stories they make. We`ve often seen examples of shows that were really great, but didn`t last more than two or three seasons.
The reason wasn`t that they lacked viewers or anything else, the reason was that the creators knew when they had reached a climax in the series and wanted to leave it at that. We saw that most of the shows lost their credibility because they continued to do so even after everyone knew they had lost their popularity. It`s better to be finished than to be cancelled, right? And that`s why `Silk` is such a good show. It never reached its lowest point, so there was nothing more to complain about. It showed the story of Martha Costello, a Trial Chamber lawyer, who wants to become the Queen`s Advocate.
