Islamabad (8 March 2022): To solve the problems faced by Pakistanis/foreigners abroad regarding mobile registration, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has developed a new mechanism to allow “temporary registration” of mobile phones of Pakistanis/foreigners abroad visiting Pakistan for a short period of time. There are several ways to check your mobile phone`s IMEI number: If you forgot to register your phone`s IMEI at the airport and have trouble understanding the online process, you can visit the franchise of a CMO in the country, and they will process the registration for you on your behalf. The PTA had previously maintained walk-in visits to its mobile device registration offices, but as of September 20, 2019, the PTA has now allowed CMOs to do so instead. However, installation is only available at certain customer service centers, so browse the list to find the nearest one. After receiving a blocked IMEI message from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority, you need to approve your mobile device to use it. You can approve your mobile phone through different methods and we will describe the recording techniques in this article. The PTA only registers genuine and original phones as part of their mobile registration process, and if you have a clone or copy of an original phone, or if you use a phone brand that is not authorized/recognized by the PTA, your phone will be locked for use with a Pakistani SIM card after 60 days. We recommend that you avoid this inconvenience and purchase a new phone registered for your use in Pakistan for the duration of your stay. 4. Enter IMEIs from different devices instead of 1 or more from the same device. Registration fails.
In order to temporarily register their mobile phone, a person must provide their name, passport number, arrival date, expected departure date, mobile SIM card issued in their name and the IMEI of their device. The new system would verify the applicant`s arrival date in real time using the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS). 3. If you have the same IMEI number. The following message is displayed for both SIM cards. Registration fails. All international travelers and people returning to Pakistan after an international trip are encouraged to voluntarily go to the customs office to declare the mobile phones they have brought, especially if they plan to use them with a local SIM card for more than 60 days. According to an order issued by the PTA, mobile users are currently required to register their cellular devices with the agency by October 20 to stay away from blocks. If you wish to apply for a PTA mobile registration online, you must visit the official DIRBS online portal. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to register a mobile phone online with PTA: The PTA registration process remains the same regardless of the brand of your mobile phone.
Some of the most well-known mobile phone brands in Pakistan are: The IMEI number is a unique code assigned to your mobile phone similar to a vehicle identification number. If you are blocked, you will not be able to use your mobile phone to access a mobile network in Pakistan and your phone will not be able to make or receive calls. To confirm your mobile phone`s IMEI, dial *#06# from your mobile phone. However, if you have one dual SIM mobile phone, your mobile phone will have two, unlike IMEI numbers. You can get a fifteen-digit IMEI number when you dial *#06# from your mobile phone. You can also get the IMEI number in the mobile phone settings. Update (June 12, 2020): Noting that all mobile users have 60 days to register their devices and that device registration awareness has been created for anyone traveling to Pakistan, the PTA has now removed its counter from the airport. PTA mobile registration can only be done through automated online services from the DIRBS website or by visiting franchise centers/customer service centers from all major mobile networks in the country. Mobile enrollment in the PTA advanced a confirmation framework called the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). The framework has disappeared to ensure a solid development of the mobile ecosystem in Pakistan and to ensure the use of legal devices in mobile networks. According to a representative of the Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA), interviewed by The Express Tribune in June 2019, more than one million smartphones are sold on the Pakistani market every month, of which nearly 40 to 60 percent are contraband phones. There were also more than 150 million registered mobile phone users, in a PTA statement registered at the same time.
If you bought a phone abroad and are traveling to Pakistan with it, the first step is to register it with the PTA. This can be done conveniently at the customs counter at the airport. If you have failed to register your phone at the airport or have decided to register later, you can also request mobile check-in online through PTA`s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System, or visit a Mobile Operator Franchise (CMO) in Pakistan for PTA device registration. After people abused the relaxed policy, the PTA made registration and tax payment mandatory for every phone from July 2019. However, the RBF is considering a relaxation of the policy from November 2019. We will keep you informed when a new policy or changes to the current policy are announced. The PTA reported earlier this year that imports of mobile devices through legal channels increased from 17.2 million in 2018 to 28.02 million in 2019, an impressive 63 percent increase. Step 4: Submit a COC application. In the PTA registration form of the mobile device, you will need to enter your phone`s IMEI number, contact number, and user type [Pakistani (local/international/dual nationals)] or [foreigner (travel visa)].
